Job Description
Fiber to the Home (FTTH) Council Americas is a non-profit association consisting of companies and organizations that deliver video
, Internet and/or voice services over high-bandwidth, next-generation, direct fiber optic connections - as well as companies that
 manufacture FTTH products and others involved in planning and building FTTH networks. The Council works to create a cohesive
 group to share knowledge and build industry consensus on key issues surrounding fiber to the home. Its mission is to accelerate 
deployment of all-fiber access networks by demonstrating how fiber-enabled applications and solutions create value for service
 providers and their customers, promote economic development and enhance quality of life. The Council organizes North America's
 largest annual FTTH event, the FTTH Conference & Expo.
Part of sharing industry knowledge is provided via white papers, webinars, and workshops published by the FTTH Council, or via
 FTTH Council members and approved for general FTTH Council distribution. All three media are important aspects of the FTTH
 Council’s educational efforts and as a way to provide additional benefits to our membership by providing valuable, up-to-date information.  
The FTTH Council is seeking a part-time technical liaison to act as Technology subject matter expert for the council and coordinate
 with the Technology committee or other FTTH Councils worldwide in identifying topics relevant to further FTTH technologies.
White paper, webinar, and workshop topics vary according to industry trends and technical issues such as:
New technologies for FTTH and associated networks
General deployment techniques such as in-home wiring or wireless integration with FTTH networks (both SFU and MDU/MTU properties)
Community and Municipal broadband initiatives
Regulatory
Green initiatives
Business concerns such as generating RFPs, managing operational expenses, and differentiated service offerings
Job Requirements
Specific duties are outlined below, but there are a number of other tasks that will be required during the course of writing;
 these include conducting research for writing the material, coordinating with technical professionals to gather technical information,
 speaking to the membership and Technology Committee to understand requirements, etc.
Following are some of the duties and responsibilities assigned to the Technical Liaison:
Act as the Technology Subject Matter Expert for the Council
Coordinate and/or present webinars on new and existing FTTH technologies
Present as required at the Annual Conference and Quarterly Workshops
Present as required to the FCC and other regulatory bodies
Coordinate with other FTTH Councils and their respective technology committees to present united technical opinions
 and responses.  This includes but is not limited to North America ownership of the FCGA definitions document.
Create workshop topics & agenda for regional technical summits.
Required to write technical and business documents as the FTTH industry trends dictate.
Required to review the documents as provided by FTTH Council membership and recommend changes in them if required to
 ensure adherence to FTTH Council guidelines.
Stay current with technical advancements related to FTTH and associated markets.
Edit existing technical documents to update these as per the latest technical information.
Conduct extensive research to ensure accurate and reliable content.
Required to speak to the FTTH Council Technical Committee and other committees as subjects warrant in order to
 understand various technical aspects before writing about certain technical subjects.
Required to periodically meet with membership in order to understand the kind of content they require.
Adhere to the deadlines given by the FTTH Council and ensure quality, relevant, content that represents the FTTH Council’s mission.

Skills and Qualifications
Technical Liaison requires the below mentioned skills and specifications:
10+ years’ experience in a technical field, preferably in FTTH or associated market.
Familiar with Fiber to the Home market place.
Excellent writing skills.
Efficient in reviewing and editing technical documents.
Good time management skills.

Education
The education and qualification requirements for a Technical Liaison are as follows:
Minimum Bachelor’s degree in a technical field (Engineering, Computer Science)
Master’s or Doctorate preferred
